Via Transilvanica maior
Via Transilvanica maior represents the main route, connecting Putna to Drobeta-Turnu Severin. It stretches for around 1,400 km, and its development began in 2018, officially launching in 2022.
Starting in 2025, an ambitious plan began to extend the trail into as many historical regions of the country as possible. The first new section inaugurated is located in Brașov county and has taken the shape of the region called Terra Borza Teutonica. All these extensions are part of Via Transilvanica minor, meaning all secondary paths branching off the main artery.
You can discover the 1,600 kilometers in a single journey or in multiple trips, considering stages of a few days or choosing to traverse an entire region. Whether you start from the north or the south, you have the freedom to plan your outings based on the time you have available, your interest in a particular area, or your proximity to the trail.
