Discover Bucovina

Via Transilvanica starts from Bucovina, from Putna, exactly from the Putna Monastery, where Saint Stephen the Great rests, a monastery he founded. In the north of the country, Bucovina is a bridge between Transylvania and Moldova.

The 136 km route brings to light picturesque areas and historical monuments unique in the world. From the Putna Monastery, our trail takes us towards the Sucevita mountain pathway, then through Vatra Moldoviței, through the hills of Bucovina to the Mestecăniș Pass. The trail continuing towards the Dornelor Country surrounded by the Giumalău, Suhard and Călimani mountains. From there, the road winds through hills and meadows to Poiana Negri with its wonderful springs, stopping at Poiana Stampei, the town that ends the route in the historic Bucovina region.

Bucovina is a challenge. It is a challenge for hikers, but also a kind of blessing, that once they have crossed its hills, they are ready to complete a long-distance trail.
